We are Chamberlain Performing Arts, a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization seeking to share the art of dance with all members of our North Texas community. Why? Because community matters.
Releve After School Dance Program
Starting in 1996, through a partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County, Chamberlain established the free After-School Dance Program at the Douglass Community Center in Plano. The program was a huge success and continued to expand starting in the 2006-2007 season to include classes at the Frisco and McKinney branches. These free dance classes have reached approximately 1,243 students ages 6-12 since the inception in 1996. Several of the most dedicated students have received scholarships to further their dance training. We currently have 12 students in the scholarship program.
Shining Stars Dance Program
In 2005, Chamberlain started the Shining Stars program for students and young adults with special needs. This unique dance program is designed specifically for children with special needs between the ages of 6 and 21. These students attend specialized classes in movement and artistic expression. Thanks to a number of dance student volunteers, the Shining Stars program is highly-supervised and gives participants the chance to work with peers, develop flexibility and coordination, and have fun! With two classes offered each week in Plano, the Shining Stars program has proven to be a real boon to the community and enrollment has quadrupled over the past two years alone. We have reached approximately 200 students since 2005 through our Shining Stars program.
